#TribeUp! Blogalicious Weekend 2017 Call for Speakers is Now Open!

Application deadline: 8PM EST, June 2, 2017

Our 2017 Conference Theme is…

#TribeUp

Everywhere we turn, we’re seeing the spirit of Tribes make its presence known. Whether in the form of an Instagram pod or a Facebook community; a podcast audience or a Slack group, the desire to form a circle of like-minded individuals with a common goal and respected leadership is everywhere. And here’s the secret that us influencers have known all along: the level of engagement within a well-led tribe is through the roof. This is exciting, not only for content creators, but for media and marketers, too.

As so keenly put by Seth Godin almost a decade ago:

“A tribe is a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea. For millions of years, human beings have been part of one tribe or another. A group needs only two things to be a tribe: a shared interest and a way to communicate.”
(Seth Godin, Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us)

We want to take that notion one step further and highlight your ‘how.’ What are some of the smartest, most fun, and most powerful ways you’ve gone about building your tribe?
For our 9th annual Blogalicious Weekend, we’re celebrating the importance of tribes — the trusted communities that each of you has built and are so expertly leading. In doing so, we’re paying homage to our tribe of multicultural, social media enthusiasts who continually build and foster platforms; destinations, resources, collaborations and connections that bring to light movements, information, life-hacks and social issues to the world around them. From where we stand, “Tribe” is not just another “it” word, but a way of life and sense of kinship that elevates everyone and everything around us. With an inspired tribe, the ability to make change and leave a legacy is beyond limits

It’s time to #TribeUp!

Interested in speaking? Great! Here’s what you need to know about the call for speakers:

Click Here to fill out the application.
Please read the instructions carefully!

Event date is October 5-8th, 2017. When applying, please be available to speak that weekend.

We read/view every single submission. You will receive an email notice notifying that your application has been received.

Application deadline is Friday, June 2nd! We’re on a very tight deadline so for this reason, absolutely NO exceptions.

Decision day is Sunday, June 25, 2017. You will receive an email notification from Blogalicious letting you know if your submission has been accepted or declined with next steps. Please do not email Blogalicious before that date.

Your submission should be focused on serving the needs of the attendees with our theme in mind. Clearly state on what significant offering and takeaways you will be providing our community.

This year we are curating a more streamlined event program. We’re looking for intermediate to advanced level facilitators to guide our community.  Our agenda this year includes masterclasses, siestas and tribe gatherings. With that said, as much as we would love to, we cannot accept every single submission.

Selected Speakers will receive complimentary Influencers registration for Blogalicious Weekend. You will be responsible for covering your own lodging and transportation.

Be yourself! Show your personality! #TribeUP!

Part 2: Notable Keynotes and Celebs that Showed Up and Showed Out at Blogalicious Weekend

[Read Part 1, HERE]

Blogalicious 2013: Harriette Cole, Luvvie Ajayi and Elisa Camahort-Page

IMG_1994

2013 was a big year for Blogalicious – it was our 5th birthday! That year we returned to Atlanta and celebrated our milestone with a bang. Life stylist and motivational speaker, Harriette Cole moved participants to tears (literally) in her VIP workshop on Mastering Your Elevator Pitch; while Luvvie Ajayi and Kailei Carr served as the perfect hostesses of the Scandal Premiere Watch Party presented by XFINITY CelebrateBlackTV.com – the Olivia Pope outfits were fiyah!!

And rounding out our ‘Create.Build.Fund’ theme was none other than Elisa Camahort Page, co-founder of BlogHer, who gave one of our most impactiful keynotes on Funding Your Dream: What to know, who to know, and perhaps most importantly: What NOT to do. Our 5th birthday was pretty awesome, don’t you think?

Blogalicious 2014: Derreck Kayongo, Lamman Rucker and Issa Rae

 better d

CNN Hero Derreck Kayongo’s energy was infectious! He shared his story about how his Global Soap Project came to be and then ended the keynote by getting us all to participate in a song. We’re inspired by the work he continues to do through his current role as CEO of the National Center for Human and Civil Rights.

lamman1

OWN Greenleaf actor, Lamman Rucker visited Blogalicious 2014 and spent quality time with the men at a private luncheon hosted by Toyota. Following the lunch, the meet and greet line to take a photo with Lamman extended well past the ballroom doors. Ladies and babies alike loved having him there! He was gracious, funny and had a heart of gold.

Issa-rae-awkward-black-girl-blogalicious-2014

We had the pleasure and good time of listening to Issa Rae give a keynote Q&A moderated by another media maven, Luvvie Ajayi. Issa gave us insight into the not-so-glamorous work that has gone into her ascent from YouTuber to premium cable TV series producer and actress. We took all the notes.

Blogalicious 2015:  Hon. Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Paul Carrick Brunson, Natasha Eubanks, Ana Flores and Mahisha Dellinger

mayor Stephanie

In 2015 we hosted Blogalicious Weekend in Baltimore. It was a somber time because the city was on high alert due to the high profile Freddie Gray case. Baltimore city Mayor, the Honorable Stephanie Rawlings-Blake talked about her rise into politics and how naysayers tried to stop her path to greatness.  “You can’t imagine how a fly haircut and lip gloss can affect some people.” Word.

brunson panel

Blogalicious co-founder, Stacey Ferguson moderated a panel featuring YBF Founder: Natasha Eubanks, We All Grow Latina Founder: Ana Flores, serialprenuer: Paul Carrick Brunson and Curlz Founder: Mahisha Dellinger. They dropped gems about how they’ve built their empires and gave the attendees the encouragement to stay the course.

Blogalicious 2016: Nely Galán and Ramon Ray

nely galan

Nely opened Blogalicious weekend by sharing how one defining moment in her career inspired her to make a shift and start her multi-million business empire. She also emphasized that each woman should be her own Prince Charming. Women should set out to create their own rich life in every way. Another thing she said: “buy buildings, not shoes!”

ramon ray

Ramon Ray, Publisher and Exeutive Editor of Smart Hustle Magazine closed Blogalicious Weekend sharing his secret sauce for getting the media talking about YOU and your product or service.  The sauce was so tasty, that 45 minutes was simply not enough time for Ramon and Justice Fergie told him to keep talking for another fifteen minutes! The attendees loved his informative talk and his energy was infectious.

As you can see, we’ve been SO fortunate to have so many amazing speakers grace our stage. Each year, our keynotes bring a different set of perspectives, motivation and energy to our event that we hope stick with your for months afterwards. We’re all about lifting one another up and learning from these captains of industry is so critical to our mission. Oh, and the occasional appearance from a comedian-R&B singer-spokesmodel-rap legend-TV Chef doesn’t hurt either!

Part 1: Notable Keynotes and Celebrities that Showed Up and Showed Out at Blogalicious Weekend

Selecting a keynote speaker for Blogalicious Weekend is a task we take very seriously. This individual has to bring the energy and set the tone for the entire Weekend. Below, we share some of our notable favorites!

Blogalicious 2009:  Karen Walrond and Kim Coles

b.karen

Karen Walrond of Chookooloonks lit up our inaugural conference with her powerful message about “The Beauty of Different.” Kimberly Coleman (Mom In The City) shared this reaction: “The message really resonated with me. She encouraged us to figure out what made us different – our “superpower.” That’s the only way that we can be who we are meant to be and to live out our own personal dreams.”

IMG_2927

During Disney Interactive’s The Princess and the Frog New Orleans-style Luncheon, one of us did a double take. Is that THE Kim Coles from ‘Living Single’ tip-toeing into the ballroom?! Turns out she was in the hotel as part of the presenting team for the BET Hip Hop Awards, and saw the fabulous group of ladies entering the luncheon; she decided our event was more fun to attend and she crashed for a few minutes. She said she would be back! Later that night, Kim joined us in the Clever Girls’ Yummie Tummie Suite. We had a ball sipping on bubbly and noshing on tasty cupcakes Good times! We love that, 8 years later, she is still connected with our community.

Blogalicious 2010:  Loni Love, Marc Morial and Kindred The Family Soul

Whew! Let’s talk about Miami, shall we? We had the great honor of having Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League (and former mayor of New Orleans), present our Opening Keynote. We felt inspired as Mr. Morial applauded us for lifting our voices and talked of the important work to be done in our communities. We’ve remained good friends with the Urban League – and Blogalicious family members were invited to live blog President Obama’s speech at their Centennial Conference! A Moment to remember.

And then, there was Loni Love! Presented by McDonald’s – a long-time Blogalicious partner – Loni, a Cafe Mocha Radio personality and co-host on The Real, had us in stitches as she hosted our luncheon AND took the time to interview several bloggers one-on-one.

loni-love

A private performance for the Blogalicious attendees by Kindred The Family Soul, capped off an evening presented by General Mills (complete with topless waiters serving Yoplait martinis!) The duo was so down to earth and personable that they blessed us with a repeat, surprise, performance the next day. We’ve kept in touch and have been cheering them on ever since, through their webisodes, Wal-mart commercials and more!

IMG_2013

Blogalicious 2011:  Jessie Jones, Paula Patton, and Chef Aaron McCargo Jr.

jessie jones

Jessie Jones’, then-founder of U-ology, motivational speech tackledrelationship building.  “We need to develop an “army” with those that want to build with us. If you only have support from 2 people then great, build from there. Don’t waste time with people who won’t support you.” (Quote source: Mommy Factor) We enjoyed having our Canadian brother grace the stage – congrats on your new agency, Jesse!!!

paula (2)

The line for the Cover Girl QUEEN Collection Suite was out the door! That’s because the gorgeous and warm Paula Patton was their brand ambassador on hand to meet and greet with the Blogalicious community. Justice Fergie’s mom was oh-so-tickled when Ms. Patton told her that she should be so very proud of her daughter – we’re proud of you, Paula!

aaron-mccargo-blogalicious-2

Breakfast for dinner you say? We think that’s a great idea! And so did Aunt Jemima, who brought their brand ambassador, Chef Aaron “Big Daddy” McCargo from the Food Network to Blogalicious. Not only did he perform live cooking demos  and host our Pancake Dinner, but he also took the time to autograph his cookbook: Simply Done, Well Done for everyone in attendance. Keep cookin’ with grease, Chef!

Blogalicious 2012: Mario Armstrong and Doug E. Fresh

IMG_2003

Mario Armstrong kickoff Blogalicious 2012 on a high note. He gave an energizing keynote sharing his entrepreneurship journey, and kept it all the way real by sharing a screenshot of his negative bank account statement to show that the road to entrepreneurship is not always paved in gold. After his keynote, 30+ bloggers continued the conversation outside of the ballroom! Attendees couldn’t get enough to his wisdom and energy. [P.S. Congrats on the launch of The Never Settle Show, Mario!!]

dougiegain

Those of you where were there already know. This is hands down THE BEST closing party we hosted in the history of Blogalicious. Gain took us back to early 90’s and bought Doug E. Fresh to help us relive the nostalgia. Attendees are still talking about this party today! Thanks #GainFresh!!

But wait! There’s MORE. Part 2 Up Next!

#Blogalicious8 Closing Keynote Announcement: Robin and Andréa McBride

#TeamBlogalicious has been keeping this announcement close to the vest for the last few weeks. We’re finally ready to pop the cork and close out Blogalicious Weekend with the official announcement that Andréa + Robin McBride – two long-lost sisters who found their way back to each other, bonded over wine and created a successful business together – will be at B8!

About the Closing Keynote:

You dream it, you believe in it, you can do it! However, being a woman in business, there are going to be some interesting challenges along the way. Hear first hand Robin & Andréa McBride’s inspiring story and three key business lessons they learned on the road to establishing McBride Sisters Wines – lessons that any woman in business can relate to and apply to her own pursuits.

Meet the McBride Sisters: Entrepreneurs and Wine Makers

 speak-andreambspeak-robynmcb

About the Sisters:

Though continents apart, the sisters were raised around vineyards in newly developing wine regions (Monterey, California, and Marlborough, New Zealand)—each independently fostering our own appreciation for the craft of winemaking and each unaware of the other for nearly half their lives.

Despite the 7,000 miles that separated them, they would eventually find their way to each other in 1999. Their story, proof of the bond that can form over a bottle of wine and is a story they are now telling with the McBride Sisters Collection.

As entrepreneurs with over 11 years in the wine business they have been involved in every facet of the industry from grape growing, winemaking, importation, distribution, sales and marketing. Their passion lies in making wine and connecting with wine lovers around the world.

As Vintners the sisters have two wine brands under the McBride Sisters Wine Company: The first is eco.love Wines from New Zealand, the second is the newly unveiled Truvée Wines from the Central Coast of California. The McBride Sisters Wine Company sells over 1.2 Million bottles of wine per year.

We can’t wait to hear this message of empowerment. Learn more about their wine company here and follow them on Twitter and Instagram at @McBrideSisters.

The Bosses Behind The Brands: An Exclusive Conversation w. Agency Executives ~ Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 @ 4:15pm

Barbara Jones :: One2One Network

speak-barbara

After spending 20 years in the music business as a marketing executive, Barbara Jones felt drawn to create a space where brands and agencies could harness the power of social media influencers. After founding One2One Network and co-founding BlissDom Events in 2008 and then evolving to form the integrated social media agency Blissful Media Group, she has become a sought-after social media and influencer marketing consultant and speaker.

Barbara and her family love being active in their community, including being active on the board of the local teen center, and they pretty much enjoy all winter sports. She happily lives and works in Greenwich, CT, but dreams of living full-time in the mountains and snowboarding whenever possible.  After all, she’s mastered composing emails on her iPhone from a chairlift without dropping it (yet), and it would be a shame for that skill to go to waste.

Danica Kombol :: Everywhere Agency

speak-danica

Danica Kombol is the CEO of the Everywhere Agency, a leading social media and content marketing firm that works with Fortune 500 companies crafting and executing successful campaigns. She founded the blogger network, Everywhere Society to power the agency’s many award winning influencer campaigns for clients like Macy’s, Coca-Cola, Cox Communications, Domain.ME, Carters and others.

As a social media marketer, Danica draws on her extensive background as a television producer and public relations executive. She began her career at Sesame Workshop and went on to become a successful television producer working on such legendary shows as Saturday Night Live and Kids in the Hall. She blogs alternately about social media trends on her own site and about entrepreneurism at Tech.co.

Nicole Pierce :: Flowers Communications Group

speak-nicole

Nicole Pierce is an Account Supervisor at Flowers Communications Group (FCG), an award-winning integrated marketing communications agency that specializes in multicultural public relations and marketing. In her role, she leads the development and execution of communications strategies across client accounts. She has a passion for building mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders on behalf of the brands she works on. In her spare time, Nicole blogs on the Chicago Now network, as Go 2 Mommy and occasionally writes as a contributor for RollingOut.com.

You can follow her on Twitter @CNicolePRGirl and on IG at @Go2Mommy.

John Dominguez :: KIA Motors

speak-john

Supporting influencer communities has been the primary motivation for John in his role leading influencer outreach for Kia Motors America. John’s background in American cultural studies and music history has guided his strategy and approach of content via storytelling, which puts the natural talents of bloggers and content creators at the forefront of his partnerships.  In addition to his role in social media, John also contributes to the communications and creative strategy behind Kia’s product launches for traditional automotive and social media.

John is married to an amazing public school teacher and has two wonderful boys who join in his love of music and Maurice Sendak.

You will walk away with key pointers, best practices, and even learn that they may be more like you than you think! This is truly a discussion you won’t want to miss!

We’re so proud to announce the following keynote speakers for this year’s Blogalicious Weekend conference, who compliment our vision so well.

 Keynote Speaker: Nely Galán

Topic: How to Become Self Made and Live a Rich Life in Every Way

Nely Galan will share what she’s learned from her amazing journey from immigrant kid, to the youngest to the tv station manager to becoming the first Latina President of a Television Network, Telemundo, to creating her own company which launched over 700 shows in English and Spanish making her the “Latina Tyler Perry”.
Galan just wrote the New York Times Best Selling Book Self Made, Becoming Empowered, Self Reliant and Rich in Every Way”. She will share all the secrets from her book including where is all the hidden money in America for women of color.

About Nely
Latina media dynamo and women’s empowerment advocate Nely Galán, dubbed the “Tropical Tycoon” by The New York Times Magazine, is one of the entertainment industry’s savviest firebrand talents.  An immigrant and self-made media mogul, Galán was the first Latina President of Entertainment for a U.S. television network (Telemundo). She is an Emmy Award-winning producer of over 600 episodes of television in Spanish and English, including the FOX hit reality series “The Swan”.

After becoming self-made on her own terms, Galán has made it her mission to teach women—regardless of age or background—how they too can become entrepreneurs. Her New York Times best-selling book, SELF MADE: Becoming Empowered, Self-Reliant, and Rich in Every Way.  Inspired by the new revolution in women’s entrepreneurship led by multicultural women, Galán wrote the book as a manifesto to ignite the SELF MADE movement, uniting all women on a quest for an economic future they control.

Galán is also the founder of the nonprofit The Adelante Movement (“Move it forward!” in Spanish), which seeks to train and empower Latinas to become entrepreneurs. Soon, not just Latinas, but women of all backgrounds began showing up to her events, a clear signal to Galán that all women, and particularly multi-cultural women, were leading a new economic women’s movement.

Power Presenter Monday: Lamar Tyler

Power Presenter Monday: Lamar Tyler

If you’ve been on the Internet for at least six weeks, chances are you’ve heard the terms “The Tylers”, “Black and Married With Kids” or “Traffic & Sales Profit Tour”. Those things have one thing in common and his name is Lamar Tyler, six-figure-making entrepreneur extraordinaire. Lamar started Black and Married with Kids with his wife, Ronnie, and has since blazed the trail for passionate dreamers who desire financial freedom. He and his wife were named two of Ebony Magazine’s Power 100, a list of the top 100 movers and shakers in the black community for the second year in a row, sharing ranks with President Barack Obama, Beyoncé Knowles, Jay-Z, and Tyler Perry. In 2014, Tyler New Media (their media company) was a Black Enterprise Family Business of the Year Finalist and in 2015, Tyler New Media was recognized as one of Infusionsoft’s Small Business ICON finalists.

This year, Lamar Tyler will be speaking at our first ever VIP Mastermind Day at Blogalicious Weekend. Want to learn more about him? Here’s a piece of his biography, which is yet another reason you need to be in attendance this year.

Hi, I’m Lamar Tyler, creator of Traffic Sales & Profit and probably one of the hardest working digital influencers in the game. I live my life by the motto: Passion, Purpose, and Profit, and it has never steered me wrong. This life-work hustle creed has taken my company Tyler New Media and my blog Black and Married with Kids (BMWK) from being a small personal blog to an international brand. This life-work hustle creed has taken the business from making “no figures” to grossing over seven-figures.

Not to brag, but I’m the real deal when it comes to making money online look easy. Just ask my clients. I’m not like these other business coaches out here that talk about building brands but have never built one with their own hands site by site, sale by sale.

For years, I have put in the work, made the mistakes, invested thousands in trainings, consultants, and paid my dues. As a result, I’ve been able to crack the cash code for living large as an online entrepreneur and created the Profit Camp to help visionaries like you get on the quickest path to profit and the land of milk and honey.

I did the hard work so you won’t have to.

Traffic Sales & Profit is a success formula, pure and simple. It gives you all of the surefire systems and strategies to take your online profits to the next level. Through Traffic Sales & Profit’s signature digital marketing strategies, I have taught entrepreneurs in different niches and markets how to generate profit with ease and in little time—regardless of their email lists sizes and their start-up budgets.
