Part 1: Notable Keynotes and Celebrities that Showed Up and Showed Out at Blogalicious Weekend

Selecting a keynote speaker for Blogalicious Weekend is a task we take very seriously. This individual has to bring the energy and set the tone for the entire Weekend. Below, we share some of our notable favorites!

Karen Walrond of Chookooloonks lit up our inaugural conference with her powerful message about “The Beauty of Different.” Kimberly Coleman (Mom In The City) shared this reaction: “The message really resonated with me. She encouraged us to figure out what made us different – our “superpower.” That’s the only way that we can be who we are meant to be and to live out our own personal dreams.”

During Disney Interactive’s The Princess and the Frog New Orleans-style Luncheon, one of us did a double take. Is that THE Kim Coles from ‘Living Single’ tip-toeing into the ballroom?! Turns out she was in the hotel as part of the presenting team for the BET Hip Hop Awards, and saw the fabulous group of ladies entering the luncheon; she decided our event was more fun to attend and she crashed for a few minutes. She said she would be back! Later that night, Kim joined us in the Clever Girls’ Yummie Tummie Suite. We had a ball sipping on bubbly and noshing on tasty cupcakes Good times! We love that, 8 years later, she is still connected with our community.

Blogalicious 2010:  Loni Love, Marc Morial and Kindred The Family Soul

Whew! Let’s talk about Miami, shall we? We had the great honor of having Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League (and former mayor of New Orleans), present our Opening Keynote. We felt inspired as Mr. Morial applauded us for lifting our voices and talked of the important work to be done in our communities. We’ve remained good friends with the Urban League – and Blogalicious family members were invited to live blog President Obama’s speech at their Centennial Conference! A Moment to remember.

And then, there was Loni Love! Presented by McDonald’s – a long-time Blogalicious partner – Loni, a Cafe Mocha Radio personality and co-host on The Real, had us in stitches as she hosted our luncheon AND took the time to interview several bloggers one-on-one.

A private performance for the Blogalicious attendees by Kindred The Family Soul, capped off an evening presented by General Mills (complete with topless waiters serving Yoplait martinis!) The duo was so down to earth and personable that they blessed us with a repeat, surprise, performance the next day. We’ve kept in touch and have been cheering them on ever since, through their webisodes, Wal-mart commercials and more!

Jessie Jones’, then-founder of U-ology, motivational speech tackledrelationship building.  “We need to develop an “army” with those that want to build with us. If you only have support from 2 people then great, build from there. Don’t waste time with people who won’t support you.” (Quote source: Mommy Factor) We enjoyed having our Canadian brother grace the stage – congrats on your new agency, Jesse!!!

The line for the Cover Girl QUEEN Collection Suite was out the door! That’s because the gorgeous and warm Paula Patton was their brand ambassador on hand to meet and greet with the Blogalicious community. Justice Fergie’s mom was oh-so-tickled when Ms. Patton told her that she should be so very proud of her daughter – we’re proud of you, Paula!

Breakfast for dinner you say? We think that’s a great idea! And so did Aunt Jemima, who brought their brand ambassador, Chef Aaron “Big Daddy” McCargo from the Food Network to Blogalicious. Not only did he perform live cooking demos  and host our Pancake Dinner, but he also took the time to autograph his cookbook: Simply Done, Well Done for everyone in attendance. Keep cookin’ with grease, Chef!

Blogalicious 2012: Mario Armstrong and Doug E. Fresh

Mario Armstrong kickoff Blogalicious 2012 on a high note. He gave an energizing keynote sharing his entrepreneurship journey, and kept it all the way real by sharing a screenshot of his negative bank account statement to show that the road to entrepreneurship is not always paved in gold. After his keynote, 30+ bloggers continued the conversation outside of the ballroom! Attendees couldn’t get enough to his wisdom and energy. [P.S. Those of you where were there already know. This is hands down THE BEST closing party we hosted in the history of Blogalicious. Gain took us back to early 90’s and bought Doug E. Fresh to help us relive the nostalgia. Attendees are still talking about this party today! Thanks #GainFresh!!

The “Social Squad” is our term of endearment for our conference volunteer team. They deliver the utmost in attendee experience and are the definition of service! From the things you do see, like their smiling faces at Registration, to the things you don’t see, like them getting down and dirty unloading pallets of boxes and stuffing the hundreds of swag bags, their hard work and dedication contributes to the Blogalicious Weekend experience in countless ways…

Jana, the Social Squad Coordinator, is THE. ABSOLUTE.BEST. If you don’t know, now you know. She runs a tight ship but she is the sweetest and protective of her troop. Squad members always make sure to remind Jana to eat at some point during the conference. 8. The Behind-the-Scenes Blogalicious Experience

Squad members are required to show up at least one day before the event to help us prepare. This affords our volunteers a chance to see #TeamBlogalicious in action and observe the machine that is Blogalicious Weekend.

9. Get to Know Brands and Speakers On a Personal Level

Volunteers work closely with sponsors and speakers assisting them with whatever they need to ensure they have a positive experience. This means developing a personal relationship with key players that you can add to your Rolodex (do they still make those?). You get our point!

Volunteering provides an opportunity for anyone, from the novice blogger to the social media enthusiast, to help #Blogalicious9 run smoothly both for presenters and participants — and to be an active Conference participant with a complimentary Conference Registration (Note: if you are selected to join the Social Squad and you have already purchased a conference ticket, you will be reimbursed).

Each year a robust network of social media influencers and enthusiasts from all over the world gather to collaborate, connect and uplift one another, and this impressive gathering couldn’t happen without the help of an amazing group of volunteers.

The 2017 Conference will be held from Thursday, October 5 to Sunday, October 8, 2017.  The policies below outline guidelines and procedures that will allow the Blogalicious Weekend 2017 volunteer experience to be beneficial to both Blogalicious and its volunteers:

Recruitment & Eligibility

Volunteers for Blogalicious Weekend 2017 are selected based on:

·       Ability to perform the volunteer position (experience, knowledge, skills);

·       Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours over the course of the Conference;

·       Ability to volunteer for entirety of the 4-day Conference unless an emergency occurs;

·       Ability and willingness to attend mandatory orientation;

·       Ability to handle multiple tasks with a positive attitude; and

·       A heartfelt desire to serve

Volunteer Responsibilities & Benefits

Volunteers, lovingly referred to as our “Social Squad,” are considered representatives of Blogalicious for the entirety of the Conference, and are therefore asked to present themselves accordingly.

In exchange for their service, volunteers will receive a complimentary conference registration.  This ticket includes: Admission to all official conference social events workshops, keynote sessions, meals and swag bag.

Time Commitment

During the Blogalicious Weekend, all volunteers are required to work 4-hour shifts daily or a minimum of 12 hours.  Every attempt will be made to place volunteers in positions that meet both their needs (free time to attend sessions of interests and enjoy the Conference) and the needs of the Conference.

Volunteers should plan their travel to arrive by Wednesday morning, October 4, 2017 to participate in swag bag stuffing and to attend the mandatory on-site Social Squad Orientation. {Note: Volunteers will not receive travel assistance or travel reimbursement to or from the Conference site.}

Age Requirement

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

Performance Concerns & Dismissal

All volunteers are expected to maintain high standards of productivity, cooperation, and attendance.  Blogalicious accepts the service of volunteers with the understanding that enthusiasm, energy, and positive attitudes are expected for a well-managed and successful volunteer experience.

In cases of misconduct or unsatisfactory performance, Blogalicious reserves the right to make determinations regarding the suitability of volunteers to continue in service.

What You Need to Know About Attending, Speaking, Sleeping, Nursing, and Volunteering at Blogalicious 2017!

If we had a dollar for every time an excited member of our community inquires about submitting to speak or volunteer during Blogalicious Weekend, we’d be writing this post from a beach in Bora Bora! Thank you, thank you for your emails, messages, texts and DMs! Your interest and enthusiasm is not taken for granted because our conference doesn’t happen without your talents, energy and gifts. Here are some details that will hopefully allow us to allow you to allow all of us to be great:

Blogalicious Weekend Tickets:

General Admission Influencer Passes, General Admission Industry Passes and VIP Experience passes are available for purchase. Early Bird ticket sales ended February 2nd, but our regular ticket prices are still great! What is the difference between the ticket types? We’re glad you asked!

Influencer Pass:
This ticket type is for Bloggers, Social Media Influencers and Entrepreneurs and includes the 2.5-Day Regular Conference on October 6th, 7th and the morning of the 8th. The Regular Conference includes workshops, keynotes, social events, conference meals and coffee breaks, and swag bag.

Industry Pass:
This ticket type is for PR agency executives, brand representatives and professionals on the corporate side of the social media industry.  The Industry Pass includes includes the 2.5-Day Regular Conference on October 6th, 7th and the morning of the 8th. The Regular Conference includes workshops, keynotes, social events, conference meals and coffee breaks, and swag bag.

VIP Experience Pass:
This ticket type is for anyone who wants to participate in advanced-level trainings and take advantage of VIP perks. The VIP Experience Pass includes a full day of trainings (VIP Mastermind Day) and a private cocktail reception on October 5th. In addition, this ticket type includes all of the benefits of the Influencer/Industry Pass. For an idea of what VIP Mastermind Day looked like in past years, check out the Thursday agendas for 2016 and 2015.

NEW THIS YEAR: We’re adding some super-fly perks for those who are VIP Experience ticket-holders. We’re still dreaming up fun and valuable surprises to stay tuned for those details. Blogalicious Weekend Speaking Opportunities:

We love sourcing our speakers from the community – we truly do. Here’s the cool thing: over the last 8 years, the landscape of the blogging, business and social media space has evolved in an amazing way. This means that your expectations and needs have grown drastically. We love this. It means that we have to carefully curate who our conference presenters will be. Each year, the bar is raised! Also, if you’ve attended a Blogalicious Weekend, then you know our agenda is jam-packed. We’ve got to balance the sessions with the sponsor events and activities and also allow you precious time for networking and connecting with your Blogalicious family. That means we have a limited number of session slots (like 12 max!) available.

If you are a knowledgeable and charismatic professional speaker, trainer, workshop facilitator, subject matter expert WITH speaking experience, then we want you to submit, submit, submit.

Blogalicious Weekend Volunteer Opportunities:

The Blogalicious Social Squad is EVERYTHING! Seriously, our volunteer team is amazing and makes the engine run like well-oiled machine on-site. If you have a serving heart, are willing to work, play well with others and want to be a part of a special sisterhood, then the Social Squad is for you. It’s important to note that our volunteers have to dedicate a minimum number of hours to working during the conference, and will need to roll with the punches, be flexible and rise to the occasion! That said, the Social Squad members have a BLAST and get to experience the conference sessions and events too. Sound interesting to you? Great!

Hotel Rooms.  Our discounted Blogalicious 2017 Room Block at the Hilton Miami Downtown is open and rooms are available for $199. Our room block closes on September 12th. Please don’t wait until the last minute to reserve your room! Click here to reserve.

Policy re. Children.  Only nursing infants are allowed in the conference space at Blogalicious Weekend in order to provide the best possible experience for our attendees. [Neither Team Blogalicious nor the Social Squad are responsible for tending to your child.]

Ticket Refund Policy. Your ticket purchase is non-refundable but you may transfer your registration to another participant by contacting the organizer NO LATER THAN September 3rd, 2017. The exception to this is if you have purchased a ticket and then are chosen to be a speaker or a volunteer, then Blogalicious will refund your purchase.
