December is Digital Sisterhood Month! #DSMonth

Saturday, December 1st marks the beginning of Digital Sisterhood Month 2012! And I’m oh-so-excited.  At its core, Blogalicious is truly a digital sisterhood  – a community of women supporting one another in ways that never ceases to amaze me.  Take for instance the private Facebook group for Blogalicious Weekend 2012 attendees; the conference has long been over, and yet the community is STILL going strong posting all day everyday sharing resources, encouragement and stories.

I LOVE IT. And I can’t get enough.

The theme for Digital Sisterhood Month is Creativity + Great Health = Fierce Living.  This completely resonates with me because I truly believe that every part of my life is finally in alignment with my purpose…except for my body image.  And I know deep down in my (flabby) gut that once I get that aspect of my life in order, I will truly be living fiercely.

And so I’m planning on supporting #DSMonth in every way that I can – not only to lift up the brilliant and gifted Ananda Leeke, the founder of the Digital Sisterhood movement, but also in the hopes that actively participating will help me get one step closer to my Fierce Living goal.

Visit the Digital Sisterhood site for the schedule of events in DC, NYC and online and to grab your badge.

The schedule is as impressive as it is chock-full of special events.  Here’s to our creativity and great health!

Digital Sisterhood Month is the brainchild of Ananda Leeke, founder of the Digital Sisterhood Network, author, artist, coach, yoga teacher, and innerpreneur. Leeke established the online celebration to give women an opportunity to celebrate their connections, conversations, communities, collaborative partnerships, and commerce. It’s #GivingTuesday! Join In.

Are you all worn out yet from the holiday shopping bonanza that was Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday? Have no fear, #GivingTuesday is here and it will rekindle your excitement for the holidays just as you were experiencing burnout (who else was up until midnight last night on Amazon.com?)  This campaign is so in line with our mission here at Blogalicious – giving is a surefire way to guarantee that both the gift-giver and the recipient are uplifted.  Love that!!  Here’s what #GivingTuesday is all about:

#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.

And there’s so many ways that you can get involved!  The GivingTuesday.org community site is chock full of information, ideas and inspiration to assist businesses, individuals, and families give back.  Take a look here.  When the girls get home from school today, we’re going to bake and take banana bread for our neighborhood fire department to thank for them for their service. I’ve got the ingredients all ready to go!

If you’re excited about Giving Tuesday and are looking for gifts that give for the loved ones on your list, consider these meaningful ones:

Maiden Nation

The brilliant visionary, Willa Shalit, who I’ve come to know well over the years through her work with the Heart of Haiti Foundation, co-founded Maiden Nationon one basic principle: empowering women through ethical fashion. In their words: “Our designers are of the moment, our products are ethically sourced, and profits are reinvested into women’s entrepreneurship projects.”  Their current initiative is to empower survivors of the devastating earthquake in Haiti that took place almost 3 years ago, especially those 400,000 residents who are still living in tents.  The goal is to do this through the crafting and sale of The Kiss Kiss Bracelet – designed by Glamour’s Women of the Year fund initiative and designer Chan Luu and crafted by Haitian women refugees.

Your purchase of The Kiss Kiss Bracelet will help these women support their businesses and redevelop their community.

More than $6 of the purchase price of each bracelet will be donated to Sean Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization .

A great gift, with an important story…Shop the Kiss Kiss Bracelet HERE.

Rescue Gifts from the IRC

This holiday season, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) – the Blogalicious Social Action Circle Launch Partner – is offering meaningful gifts that capture the true spirit of the season and have the power to save lives.

Each symbolic Rescue Gift – from a Baby Goat to the gift of Clean Water – represents a program, project or tool that the IRC uses in its critical humanitarian work around the world. Gifts will be used where and when most needed to provide help and hope to people who have been uprooted by conflict or disaster.

Gift-givers can browse Rescue Gifts online and dedicate them to loved ones, who will receive beautiful personalized print or e-cards to acknowledge the gift. There is a Rescue Gift for everyone on a shopper’s list, at a variety of price points.

Ready…Set…GIVE!

FREE Subscription to @EbonyMag for Blogalicious Community Members Courtesy of @WellsFargo!!

We were so proud to have Wells Fargo as a sponsor of #Blogalicious12 this year in Las Vegas.  They brought a stellar panel of financial experts to share resources and information with us with the goal of Helping You Empower Your Financial Future.

Lucky for us, Wells Fargo came bearing tons of other gifts too.  In addition to the snazzy beach accessories gifted to the town hall attendees, the company also offered FREE subscriptions to Ebony Magazine.

We like spoiling y’all!

We just got word that there are still some of the subscriptions available – and great news – we’re offering them to the larger Blogalicious community, so you didn’t have to attend this year’s conference to benefit.

Amazing.

Life-changing.

The best one yet.

These are just some of the words we’ve heard you use to describe this year’s conference.  And it feels great! For Team Blogalicious, what means the most is reading your posts, tweets and updates about how the conference impacted your personal and professional lives in such meaningful ways.

We’ve also taken the time to read each and every one of your answers to our post-event survey so that we can incorporate your feedback going forward. We truly appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts – both positive and constructive – so that we can grow and knock the event out of the park (again!) in 2013.

Speaking of 2013, we’ve got lots in store, both online and offline.  Our team is creating the gameplan for the next 12 months and we can’t wait to share it with you.  In the meantime, please, please take advantage of the opportunities that our content partners have crafted just for you.  Those of you who were in Vegas with us already got to know the partnerships between the Blogalicious community and MomPulse, New Roots and Bento Box Interactive – each of these are meant to provide you with additional platforms and content for your blogs and brands. Take advantage!
